Barbells for Boobs Results

Barbells For Boobs 2011 hosted at

CrossFit West Sacramento

In our second annual Barbells for Boobs, CFWS played host to 85 athletes with many more in attendance.  The weather was perfect and the athletes gave the workout their all as heat after heat of athletes ran every 20 minutes from 9AM through 1PM.

Special thanks to CrossFit East Sacramento for allowing us to use the sleds.  We wanted to put a twist on the “Grace” WOD, so we added some running and sled pulls at the end of each of three rounds of 10 Clean and Jerks.  It wound up being a great workout, with many collapsing to the customary CrossFit flat back position as they crossed the finish line.  The competition was fierce on both the men’s and women’s side of things, with mere seconds separating many of the athletes.

Below is a list of all compeitors and their finish times.  The times are listed in the following order:

WOD:

3 Rounds for time:

  •  10 Clean and Jerk (135,95)
  • Sprint 40m
  • 80m Sled Pull (90, 50)
  • Sprint 40m

CrossFit West Sacramento thanks all the competitors from last weekend’s event for coming out and supporting Mammograms in Action in our second annual Barbells for Boobs event.  We are already looking forward to next year’s event and hope to see everyone who competed this year back for our next twist on Grace!  Please post any feedback in our comments section below.

November 2011 Foundations

This series of 10 classes prepares the incoming CrossFit athlete for CFWS WODs.  All new CFWS athletes are required to either complete a Foundations program, or test out of the program by setting up a one on one appointment with either coach Lance or coach Rick.  Movements covered in this program stem from the realms of Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Gymnastics and monostructural exercise.  Learning the correct form and technique of each of the exercises covered in the CFWS Foundations program is essential to safe and effective completion of CrossFit based workouts encountered in later training sessions.

Barbells For Boobs — Workout Post

Alright!!  We waive the white flag!  With so many people blowing up our phones with texts and emails, we are releasing the workout standards for Saturday’s WOD.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet:

  • Check in time — 8AM – 8:45AM This is where heat assignments will be made
  • WOD briefing 8:45 – 9:00AM
  • Workouts begin at 9AM

The WOD:

3 Rounds for Time:

  • 10 Clean and Jerk (135,95) — YES!!  These WILL be squat cleans
  • 40m sprint
  • 80m sled pull
  • 40m sprint

We decided to mix things up a bit this year in the name of Constantly Varied.  Thank you to Justin Riley at CrossFit East Sacramento  for loaning us their sleds — the workouts will definitely be more interesting than if we just did Grace again!

Heats will run every 20 minutes until all athletes are through.  There will be a warm-up area for athletes to utilize at any time prior to their heats.  Post WOD refreshments (read – BEER) will be on hand as well.  We have raised around $2,800 so far, with 63 athletes registered as of this posting; I would like to see this number doubled by Saturday.  Get as many people as you know to sign up.  Everyone is welcome! Seasoned CrossFitters down to day one novices — we’ll get them moving well so they can hit the WOD with intensity!

Follow this link to go straight to the CFWS registration page for this Saturday’s event:

Minimum donation to compete is $35; more is ALWAYS welcomed.

Leader Board – Get on it!!

If you haven’t noticed, the CFWS leader board is finally ready for action.

There are 30 different opportunities to get your name up as one of the top 5 men or top 5 women to complete the various benchmark WODs, as well as max effort lifts and/or monomodal efforts.

As of right now, the leader board is completely blank.  Every name that goes up on the leader board will do so as a result of an effort made in a CFWS programmed WOD performed as Rx’d on our premesis.  PRs from WODs completed prior to today will not earn anyone a spot on this board.  The whole idea is to see how fit everyone is from today moving forward.  There will be no fewer than three opportunities to earn your spot on the CFWS leader board this week alone.   Who will be among the first to get their names and times posted on our wall of fame?
